Step 1: Start by drawing a simple circle (it doesn’t need to be perfect).
Who do you think this character is? My guess is that it’s a spirit or a ghost. Or maybe a raindrop?
Step 2: Now add a slightly curved triangle on the left. Let’s call it a “tail”.
Step 3: Add hands and face. I chose simple hands, and a face that expresses wonder and excitement, but you can draw any face you like.
See how this character is turned to the left? So we need to move the face to the right (from the center of the body), and make the hand come out from behind the body.
Also, the character is looking up and reaching up with his hands. It’s important that the angle of the face matches the angle of the hands, so that the character looks natural and realistic.
Use two parallel lines to help you position the face and hands on the same angle.
What other faces could work here?
I have another blog post with many different kawaii faces and expressions. What if you pick one that expresses how you feel right now and draw it on this character? That would be fun, and the drawing will come out special to you.
You can also change the hands, or add little ears to turn the character into an animal. 🙂
Step 4: Finally, outline the character and add the star.
Now all that’s left is to add the colors and a few decorations. 🙂

Yes, I know what you mean! Tutorial makes it look easy, but when you actually sit down to do it – it doesn’t come out the same… The key is to focus on drawing the basic shapes first (circles, ovals etc) and then adding to them little by little.
